Shell Rummel, Artist & Designer

Most days  you can find me,  casual and comfortable, wearing worn in blue jeans and bare feet, designing new collections or painting new watercolors. I work from two distinct design studios; One outside of Washington DC and the other near saltwater on the west coast of Florida. Both are warm and light, feel good spaces to create in. Toggling between both studios, I run all the facets of my design business which includes a thriving licensing division as well as a new Studio Collection of casual luxe products being offered to the Interior Design Trade.

I am drawn to organic lines, authentic materials, textures you can feel with fingertips and layers that invite a closer look.  I want the viewer to look at my art and designs and see something familiar in a new way… To notice the finest of details such as the nuance of colors, the play of light and the spaces in between. The juxtaposition of perfect/imperfect details in nature really intrigues me and often provides the inspiration that is at the forefront of my work. Noticing and capturing this natural process in my patterning is what feels real and raw and beautiful to me. I strive to honor these elements in all I create.

My company, Shell Artistree, has been an established presence in the fine art, wedding and stationery markets for over 20 years. My award winning watercolor artwork has been represented in retail stores and fine art galleries nationwide, and has been featured in juried art shows, fine art exhibitions and national publications. An honor,  that my artwork has been collected by thousands of private and corporate art patrons both within the US and abroad.

My current passion centers around building the Shell Rummel brand which features my signature tranquil designs and elegant color palettes. In addition to the launch of my newest Studio Collection textiles, pillows and wallpapers,  you can find a large selection of licensed Shell Rummel products (bedding, bath, rugs, pillows, textiles, fabric by the yard, house paint and of course, wall art) online and on the shelves of a growing list of major retailers including Anthropologie, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, Wayfair, Homegoods and JoAnn fabrics.
